During the 32nd Quinquennial Convention, the International Association of Heat and Frost elected a new General President, a new General Secretary-Treasurer and five new International Vice Presidents.
The IAHFIAW held its Convention in Detroit from Aug. 22 to 24 at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance.
Delegates elected Terrence M. Larkin as the new General President and Robert W. Reap as the new General Secretary-Treasurer, on Aug. 23.
Larkin began his career with Insulators Local 2, Pittsburgh in 1997. Prior to being appointed by the HFIAW General Executive Board to serve as the Middle Atlantic State International Vice President, Larkin was the Local 2 Business Manager for 10 years.
Reap joined the union in 1993 with Local 30 in Syracuse, N.Y. A second-generation union member, he spent five years as the New York/New England States International Vice President. Previously, Reap served as the Business Manager and Financial Secretary of Local 30.
Once Larkin was sworn in, he gave the oath to Reap and all 10 of the International Vice Presidents. All were elected to serve five-year terms.
Larkin expressed his gratitude for the support he received and said he was honored to be elected General President.
“I look forward to working with you (Reap and the General Executive Board) to move the union forward,” he said.
Reap also thanked the delegates for their support, and expressed hope for future growth and potential opportunity for the Insulators Union in the next five years.
Larkin and Reap replaced Gregory T. Revard and Douglas N. Gamble, who were appointed General President and General Secretary-Treasurer respectively, on Sept. 7, 2020, upon the retirement of then General President James P. McCourt and the subsequent promotion of Revard from Secretary-Treasurer to General President.
