IBEW Local 575

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers

IBEW Local 575 represents tradesmen and tradeswomen who work in the construction industry. Members focus on three areas: Inside wireman, residential and teledata.

Inside wiremen distribute and connect the customer’s electrical equipment to the power source.

While inside wiremen focus on the commercial and industrial type work, residential electricians install electrical distribution systems inside residential buildings.

Teledata technicians are tasked with installing a network of low-voltage cabling used for video, voice and data or other low-voltage signaling.

About Local 575

IBEW Local 575 was chartered on July 29, 1907. Over the years, the Local grew, and by the mid-1950s, construction began on the Uranium Enrichment Plant in Piketon. The “A” Plant, as it was referred to, was the largest job in the U.S. at the time and at peak, employed about 2,000 electricians. Local 575 continued to grow and train electricians through organizing and its Registered Apprenticeship Program. In 1994, the IBEW merged Local 575 and Local 88 in Chillicothe. As a result of the merger, Local 575’s membership grew to 234 members. Over the next decade, the Local increased its membership to 350 members and was recognized by the International for having a jurisdiction with one of the highest market shares of any IBEW Local.
