Downtown Columbus Hilton Hotel Expansion
C/COBCTC-affiliated tradesmen build largest hotel in Ohio
The Hilton Hotel Expansion project in Downtown Columbus has officially transformed the city’s skyline and set a new standard for luxury accommodations in Central Ohio.
The project, built by affiliated unions of the Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council, was completed with precision, skill and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
The $220 million expansion added an impressive 28-story glass tower to the existing Hilton Columbus Downtown, making it the largest hotel in Ohio.
Located on the southwest corner of the Greater Columbus Convention Center along North High Street, the project was restricted by bridges and railways.
With the addition of over 460 guest rooms, the hotel now features a total of 1,000 rooms, establishing itself as a premier destination in the region for conventions, business travelers and tourists.
The expansion also includes a 15,000-square-foot ballroom, cutting-edge meeting spaces and a rooftop bar offering breathtaking views of the city.
The project created hundreds of jobs for C/COBCTC tradesmen and tradeswomen.
One of the project’s most impressive achievements was seamlessly integrating the new tower with the existing Hilton pedestrian sky bridge over North High Street.
This involved intricate structural tie-ins to the sky bridge, a corridor above the convention center ballroom and a connector corridor beneath the High Street bridge.
The affiliated members of the C/COBCTC were proud to play a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life and ensuring that Columbus remains a top destination for years to come.
The project broke ground in August 2019 and was completed in September 2022.
