The Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council’s Building Futures Program is excited to announce an incredible job opportunity! Building Futures, a 501(c)(3) exempt organization, seeks a passionate and dedicated Program Director to join its nationally recognized pre-apprenticeship program.
At Building Futures, we strive to provide workforce development and job training programs for individuals who face various employment barriers, including the unemployed, underemployed, low-income, recently incarcerated, minority, female and veteran workers.
As the Program Director, you will play a crucial role in managing and directing all aspects of the pre-apprentice program to ensure its continued success.
Primary Job Duties:
As the Program Director, your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks and areas, including:
- Managing and directing the pre-apprentice program, overseeing all operations and ensuring smooth functioning.
- Engaging in community outreach activities to promote the program and attract potential participants.
- Facilitating effective communication and maintaining stakeholder relationships, including funders, joint apprenticeship training programs, employers, trade union leadership and partner organizations.
- Organizing and attending pre-apprenticeship classes, coordinating schedules and ensuring quality training.
- Contracting with vendors and managing financial aspects, including budget preparation and administration.
- Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to contracts, funders and program operations.
- Maintaining accurate records and generating reports on program progress and outcomes.
- Reporting to and updating the CBCT Building Futures Board of Directors and Treasurer on all program-related matters.
Preferred Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, we are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- At least 3 years of prior nonprofit or related management experience, demonstrating leadership and organizational skills.
- A degree in a relevant field, providing a solid foundation in program management and development.
- An interest in or prior experience working with trade unions and community organizations, fostering collaborations and building partnerships.
- Excellent communication and writing skills, enabling effective interaction with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong record-keeping and organizational skills to ensure efficient program operations.
- Proficiency in using software such as QuickBooks, Excel and Word for financial management and reporting purposes.
