Sixth Annual C/COBCTC D.A.D.’s Day Clay Shoot Registration Form and return it prior to the Sept. 10 deadline.

Proceeds raised by the event will benefit diabetes research.

D.A.D.’s Day was organized in 1987 by the Building and Construction Trades Department, AFL-CIO, with a goal to raise money for the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI), located at the University of Miami, Fla.

The mission of the DRI is to find a cure for diabetes, which is a disease where the body cannot produce insulin or cannot produce enough insulin to turn glucose into energy.

Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness, kidney failure, amputations, heart failure and stroke in Americans.

According to its website, the Diabetes Research Institute leads the world in cure-focused diabetes research. It is of the largest and most comprehensive research center dedicated to curing diabetes.

Currently, the DRI is aggressively working to develop a biological cure by restoring natural insulin production and normalizing blood sugar levels without imposing other risks.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the U.S. More than 37 million Americans. have diabetes, and 20 percent of them do not know they have it. Roughly 96 million U.S. adults (over a third) have prediabetes and 80 percent are unaware they have it.

Since 1988, the C/COBCTC has raised more than $124,000 for D.A.D.’s. Day.
