Quality training is one of the main ways members of the Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades separate themselves from their competitors.
Through Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committees (JATCs), our affiliated unions provide free, quality apprenticeship training and journeymen upgrade training courses. At state-of-the-art training centers, certified instructors teach our members a continuously updated curriculum, containing the latest in industry and safety technology, for the best training in the construction industry.
A union-trained craftsman receives certified training, including safety and skills training, at no cost to the union member. Each of our affiliated JATCs provide safety training both on the job and through Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) construction outreach training programs.
The construction industry relies heavily on skilled craftsmanship, so apprenticeship and upgrade training programs give our union members the most skill and knowledge they need to be fully productive trades workers. Union journeymen are kept current and up-to-date in the newest technologies, helping to ensure they work both productively and efficiently on the jobsite.
Statistics show that union training programs significantly outperform their non-union counterparts in enrollment levels, graduation rates, caliber of overall curriculum and training facility quality.
