The Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council proudly endorses Rob Dorans for Columbus City Council.
Appointed earlier this year to a seat on Council, Dorans, a Democrat, will appear on the ballot for the first time.
In addition to being endorsed by the C/COBCTC, Dorans was also endorsed by the AFL-CIO.
As Chief Legal Counsel for Affiliated Construction Trades (ACT) Ohio, Dorans provides legal resources to the union construction industry, providing support to Local Unions, business managers, agents and organizers. He works to address a wide variety of needs including business development opportunities, safeguarding Prevailing Wage, ensuring public entities comply with competitive bid law and investigate wage theft.
Dorans, a third generation IBEW member, said he is running for office to expand opportunities for all Columbus residents.
“My time as the Chief Legal Counsel for ACT Ohio has given me the opportunity to advocate for workers and I plan to continue to do so on City Council,” he said. “As third generation union member, I know how a good-paying career with healthcare and retirement benefits can lift a family into the middle class. I go to work everyday at City Hall to find ways that we, as a City, provide these kind of career opportunities to our residents.”
For Dorsey Hager, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council, Dorans has become a labor leader with a track record of supporting labor and working-class people.
“Rob is the grandson of a pipefitter, son of an IBEW member, an IBEW member himself and lead attorney for ACT OHIO,” Hager said. “He is someone who clearly understands labor issues and will be a strong advocate for the working men and women of Columbus.”
“As a third generation union member, I am honored to be endorsed by the Columbus Building Trades,” said Dorans. “I will continue to fight every day on City Council for the rights of union workers and good-paying jobs.”
