Improve your life, apply for the Franklin County CBCT Building Futures program

The Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council proudly partners with Franklin County and IMPACT Community Action to offer residents a path to the middle class.

Building Futures is a 12-week program that provides the skills needed to begin a career in the region’s booming construction industry.

No experience in the construction industry is necessary or required to apply.

A career with one of the affiliated trades will provide participants with a great starting wage, health benefits and retirement benefits.

Our affiliated trades include: Bricklayers, Carpenters, Cement Masons, Roofers, Glaziers, Insulators, Ironworkers, Laborers, Drywall Finishers, HVAC-R, Electricians, Millwrights, Painters, Pipefitters, Plasterers, Plumbers, Sheet Metal Workers, Sprinkler Fitters, Sign & Display and Tile Layers.

After the successful conclusion of the 12-week training program, participants will have a pathway into a registered apprenticeship program.

Individuals who are interested in the Building Futures program should:
• Have an interest in the building trades as a career.
• Have the physical ability to perform the work of the trades.
• Pass a drug test.

Attendance is required and strictly adhered to for participants to successfully complete the program.

Individuals meeting the program’s minimum candidate qualifications are urged to apply:
• Completed application
• Drug-free
• 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Passing Assessment score (ACT WorkKeys and McGraw Hill – ALEKS)

All applicants that meet the above criteria will be interviewed and assigned a score used to determine which applicants will be selected for a training cohort. Those not selected will have the opportunity to be chosen for future cohorts.

If interested or to apply in person, contact Leland Bass, IMPACT Community Action Employer Relations Manager, at 614-453-1618.

I was told that I may be able to hire on as an unskilled laborer while deciding on a path to a skilled trade. I have a degree from Ashland University. I am currently a business owner. Forty six years old and physically fit. Please advise. Thank you. 614-678-4814
