President Donald Trump’s appearance at the North American Building Trades Legislative Conference gave no real insight to his infrastructure agenda.
Dorsey Hager, Executive-Secretary Treasurer of the Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council, was in attendance at the 2017 North American Building Trades conference. He gave Ed “Flash” Ferenc, America’s Workforce Radio host, his insight on the president’s speech.
Speaking to most of the country’s building trade leaders, Hager said the president did not give any specifics on an infrastructure plan and made no mention about supporting the use of Davis-Bacon (Prevailing Wage) Act.
Besides national issues, the interview also focused on state issues.
On the state level, Hager discussed So-Called “Right to Work” and anti-prevailing wage legislation introduced at the state level. He provided updates on both items, which are in committee.
Ferenc and Hager discussed the Duffy Bill, which will give more access to the trades to recruit in high schools.
The two also reminisced about the passing of comedian Don Rickles and recapped the Union Sportsmen Alliance dinner.
